Hot off the press, Natural England has just published its much-anticipated "Reptile Mitigation Guidelines".

The document is the product of a long research and consultation period, coordinated, edited and largely written by Jim Foster, formerly of Natural England. Jim was NE's reptile and amphibian specialist, and left NE at the end of August 2011.

The ecological mitigation industry has been asking for such a document for many years, with the aim of attempting to standardise practices, from survey methods to reptile capture effort levels.
